Campers are encouraged to work with clay to produce various projects that help them acquire and demonstrate the skills and techniques necessary in ceramics. Each instructor in the department is skilled in many areas of design and technique, offering different expertise. It is important to encourage the children to pursue creative ideas in order to bring out artistic talent. The girls work on numerous projects during the summer, organized by staff, including techniques in wheel-thrown pottery, slab-building, coil and pinch pots, and additive and subtractive sculpture. It is important, however, to foster their own creativity and allow them to pursue any well thought-out project on an individual basis.
