< P >
The purpose of the introductory lecture is to give the students an overview of the elements that go into a successful college search, and to discuss the structure of the camps counseling program.
< P >
Over the next several days, the guidance counselor will, for the most part, work on a one-on-one basis, with his or her students. There will be three 1 and 1/2-hour block rotations every afternoon and each counselor will be assigned approximately 5-7 students per block rotation.
< P >
Although there will be some general group discussions of topics relevant to the question of choosing and applying for college, the primary goal of the counselor should be to spend as much time as possible with individual students. Counselors will discuss what the students' curriculum will be in the remaining year(s) at high school. Counselors will also clarify which schools are very likely, somewhat likely, and less likely to accept the student given their high school performance thus far.
